Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

Limerick, PA

On July 1, 2006, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia established Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Limerick Township, Montgomery County. The new parish was the result of the consolidation of St. Peter's Parish Pottstown, and St. Clare's Parish, Linfield.

A 988-seat church has been designed for this new parish, and the new church includes a 119 seat day chapel, complete with sacristy, meeting rooms and toilet rooms. The cost for construction was $8 million dollars.

Structural design for the new church consists of a sloping steel frame roof with a wood deck over the steel. The roof clear span distance is 62’ in one direction and 52’ in the other, to create the shape of a cross. The structure has two bell towers that project 60’ above the ridge of the roof.
