Pfahler Hall of Science

Ursinus College

The new three-story, 30,000 square foot science building contains chemistry and physics laboratories, complete with benches and fume hoods.  Classrooms, lecture halls, and offices complete this state-of-the-art facility.

AEC, Inc. Structural Department designed the steel frame building with a partial pouredin-place basement for building service entrance requirements.

AEC, Inc. engineered the tie-ins to all central campus systems, including electrical, steam, storm water, domestic water, sanitary, campus fire loop, and natural gas.

The building air handlers are controlled by a central DDC system that regulates air to individual lab spaces. Air handlers use chilled or hot water for heating and air conditioning, and are fed from a central mechanical room housing a heat exchanger and chillers connected to an exterior cooling tower via a pumped condenser water system.
