This new 30,000 square foot multi-level laboratory building contains both chemistry and physics labs, along with containment areas for lab animals, classrooms, offices and lecture halls. The central HVAC system includes a DDC VAV component, tied into the experimental lab hoods, which maintains the balance of fresh air in each individual lab space.

AEC, Inc. designed this steel frame structure on spread footing foundations to contain a large first floor mechanical room, along with a roof top penthouse.  The mechanical room houses all incoming services, including a fire pump, an emergency generator, air handlers for the lower floors, and a heat exchanger and chiller.

The penthouse contains a cooling tower in an exterior enclosed area, along with elevator equipment, condenser, water pumps and air handlers, and a chiller for the upper floor.

The campus central plant supplies steam to a central building heat exchanger, where hot water is supplied to the air handlers for heat.
